In post-war tract framing the bearing lines are usually consistent and identifiable. That makes ambitious layout changes more predictable to price than in a one-off custom house where every assumption needs testing.
Bringing the services up with the house
A whole-house project is the sensible moment to deal with panel capacity, supply plumbing and insulation together, because the walls are already open. Doing them piecemeal later costs more and means opening finished work twice.
